ABOUT: Hello, I am Victor. I am currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science and Mathematics at Boston College. I decided to pursue Computer Science because I have a special passion for all things related to technology. Computer Science is definitely one of the harder subjects to understand and master. I believe that the first step in learning Computer Science is to train oneself to think in a logical, step-by-step manner, which, for some students, can be very challenging due to the high degree of meticulosity involved. Thus, when tutoring, I often tell my students to free themselves from the code syntax and simply verbalize or diagram the steps required to get to the final solution. I find that students are often so boggled down by the code that they forget the reason why they're coding in the first place—that is to solve real world problems. All they have to do is use everyday logic to help them get to the answer. The code is merely a translation of that logic.
Outside of school and tutoring, I immerse myself in running, basketball, and photography. Both running and basketball have been long-time hobbies of mine, while photography is a newer hobby which I've recently picked up to record beautiful moments around me in the form of art.

Outside of my academics, I am an instructor at the school of Vietnamese Traditional Martial Arts – Vo Binh Dinh. It was here that I developed my holistic approach to learning. I firmly believe that a good student is not one who excels in one particular area, but is one who has the foundational skills to deal with oncoming problems and grow from them. As a tutor, I aim to use academic studies as a means to help students develop and polish their character, confidence, and independence – hoping that this would help students succeed in any path they choose.

ABOUT: Hello! My name is Nhan Truong, and I am currently an undergraduate student at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, double majoring in Business Management and Sociology, with a minor in Biology. I graduated from a top-achieving college preparatory exam school, Boston Latin School, as an inductee of the National Honors Society. At Boston Latin School, I’ve received awards and recognition for my achievements in Latin, Mathematics, and Literature. I also took AP Literature, AP Biology, and AP Calculus and have scored 4 or above in each exam.
Outside of my academic career, I am also extremely involved in community work and leadership activities. In high school, I was the Co-President for multiple clubs, ranging from cultural clubs to volunteer services. I've realized my passion for leadership and event coordination, so I continued to pursue this path by joining the executive board of an organization on campus called the Asian American Student Association (AASA). Through the years, I've learned how to build a strong resume, expand on my networking skills, manage my time, balance my schedule and prioritize my tasks, and I definitely wouldn't mind sharing my tips and tricks to any student who is interested!
With my background in academics and leadership, I have worked with countless students in summer and after-school programs to not only reinforce the knowledge that they gain in high school, but also to enhance their learning by advancing their skills in areas of their interest. I would be super excited to work with your student!

ABOUT: Hi, my name is Samaya. I graduated from Boston Latin School and am now in my second year at Boston University studying Sociology. I absolutely love working with students of all ages. This past summer, I had the opportunity to teach elementary and middle school Math to students of ages 5 through 12. I was also a Senior Camp Counselor for children between ages 5 and 6. In the past, I have volunteered for Vine Street Community Center as an afterschool tutor, helping students with their day-to-day homework assignments.
Now in college, I currently serve on the executive board for the Undergraduate Sociology Association. In addition, I love to continue to work with students through my role as a mentor in the DREAM program, which aims at connecting college student volunteers to underprivileged students and providing them mentorship and academic guidance.
In my free time, I enjoy spending most of it with my family and friends, but I also like to volunteer.
